The Digital Imaging Assistant will work very closely with the MPDL Project Manager to develop and meet the production goals for the MPDL repository. In addition, S/he will also work with other library staff and faculty members in maintaining high quality standards for all scanning activities. • Help develop a checklist for quality control • Scanning documents and converting them to an output format compatible with the AUC Digital Archive Repository (DAR) according to specification standards set by the Digital Collection Archivist • Coordinating workflow processes for the digitization process • Creating abstracts [and keywords] for digitized documents • Ensuring that quality control is maintained throughout the digitization process • Update and maintain a database of contacts for MPDL • Maintaining a filing system for copyright agreements • Conducting preliminary desk research related to the digital project whenever necessary • Along with other duties as specified by project manager
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field Experience: • Minimum two years of professional experience. Skills: • Demonstrated excellence in writing and reading skills, and command of both Arabic and English. • Working knowledge of digital imaging tools, techniques and processes. • Knowledge of computers, photography, digital-photography, scanning tools and techniques, and studio lighting tools and techniques. • Technical experience with digital imaging equipment and related Windows-based software application (such as Adobe Acrobat Professional, Adobe Photoshop and Microsoft Excel). • Solid experience with standard computer software such as Windows or Mac OS. • Excellent interpersonal skills: ability to work with others. Self-motivated and capable of independent judgment. • Excellent time management and prioritization skills
