Energy Regulatory Lawyer USA

Growing energy industry transactional practice seeks excellent attorney with practical experience advising clients on federal and state regulation with respect to renewable and fossil fuel generating facilities, nuclear facilities and/or gas pipelines, particularly in the context of M&A transactions and corporate financing.
Responsibilities likely to include:
• Advising on regulatory aspects of transactions involving companies in the industry
• Assisting with internal training programs, knowledge management and tracking of recent developments
• Participating with the energy team on client development, including client pitches as well as profile raising activities such as articles and seminars
Ideal candidate would have several years of significant responsibility advising clients in the energy industry in transactions at a firm. Alternatively, senior lawyers with substantial experience as regulators and an interest in transitioning to private practice could be considered.
Some portable business advantageous, particularly in transition period as practice develops.
Practice is led by group of young partners interested in building on the Debevoise platform and experience in the sector. Ideal candidate would be outgoing, entrepreneurial and have industry contacts helpful in building a practice.
Location: Ideal candidate would be based in New York City. Candidate must be willing to travel frequently between NY and DC in order to participate in firm events and meetings and to keep abreast of recent developments.
Part-Time/Flex Time/Full Time: Search is for full time lawyer, but we’re willing to consider part time or flex time alternatives for excellent candidates.
