Main FunctionThis lawyer will be the primary lawyer responsible for advising on, and managing, legal risk associated with financial crime law and regulation, including: (i) anti-money laundering (including Bank Secrecy Act and USA Patriot Act), (ii) anti-bribery and corruption (including Foreign Corrupt Practices Act), (iii) economic sanctions,(iv) unlawful internet gambling and (v) anti-boycott laws. He/she will also advise, and work closely with, the Barclays Capital Financial Crime Compliance team in the US and globally.

Main Duties 
* Advise in respect of particular transactions as well as more generally regarding aspects of the Financial Crime Program established by Compliance.
* Assist in developing policies and procedures to minimize legal risk from a financial crime perspective.
* Assist in structuring and documenting transactions and activities to minimize legal risk from a financial crime perspective.
* Identify new or modified laws and regulations that may affect Barclays? activities.
* Evaluate legal risk posed by Barclays? activities.
* Education and train front office, internal lawyers and other control groups concerning significant financial crime issues relating to BarCap?s activities.
* Handle, and assist outside counsel in handling, litigation and regulatory inquiries and investigations relating to financial crimes (in conjunction with Compliance)
* Development and maintenance of efficient and effective relationships with outside counsel.
* Management of costs of external legal services.
* Liaise with Barclays Group Legal on applicability of US law to cross-border transactions
* Depending on expertise and work load, advise on bank regulatory matters and/or supervise litigation unrelated to financial crime.

Person Requirements 
* Location: New York, NY

* Regular business hours
* At least 7 years of financial crime experience with top law firm and/or legal department of major financial institution.
* Additional experience as a litigator or bank regulatory lawyer
* JD required
* Admitted to NY State Bar
