Department Overview:
Reporting into the Sales Strategy Manager for the Exansion Markets team this is a pivotal role within the team. This team covers a large geograhic region across both developed and developing markets.
Responsibilities:
- There are three main elements to the role; Media Planning, pitch preparation work and Creating appealing sales Packages.
- Create a deep understanding of the Yahoo! brand, its consumers and global advertising products.
- To work closely with the sales, editorial and research teams to create strategic solutions and media plans based on aligning brand, target and media insights.
- Being able to understand a client’s brief and react accordingly with the correct solution from a portfolio of potential solutions Yahoo! has to offer.
- Creating complex media plans to support overall proposals.
- Understanding the booking process and be able to manage the execution of large Y! Studio campaigns
- Maintaining & updating sales collateral i.e. audience profiles, sales packages, product information, research, brand messaging.
Requirements:
- Candidates should be passionate about the internet and have a clear view of how they see the internet evolving.
- An understanding of the media landscape and agency sales process.
- Ability to create media proposals/plans from scratch incorporating all potential solutions available and all elements of the marketing mix.
- The ability to understand legalities in different countries and to be able to adapt a solution subject to the laws and regulations of that country.
- Excellent written & communication skills. Attention to detail is key here.
- To create new sales programmes, sponsorship programmes and bespoke packages for agencies and clients alike.
- Actively participate in educating and informing internal sales teams on product developments, pricing and insights.
- Develop a strong understanding of the sales process from campaign conception to creating wrap reports at the end of a campaign period.
- Understanding and practical application of media research methodologies and outputs.
- Exceptional abilities in Microsoft Office tools particularily powerpoint
- Creative background
- Able to manage varied workload.
- Ready to roll up sleeves and get stuck in to any challenge.
- Background as a communication planner within one of the major agencies is a plus.
Key competencies:
- An extreme proficiency of Powerpoint and Excel is a must.
- An acute eye for attention to detail is a must.
- Ability to coordinate efforts & work effectively with multi market cross functional teams in a highly matrixed organisation.
- Must have the ability to be able to juggle day to day tasks, with key business objectives, whilst at the same time also maintaining a focussed attitude in a fast paced, fun and often chaotic environment.
- An understanding of one or many of the following categories is preferred; Sports, Auto, Lifestyle, Travel, Finance, Games, Movies, TV, Mobile and Music.
- Knowledge of advertising planning principles.
- Strong strategic & analytical skills as well as detail oriented.
- Excellent people skills, supporting skills & the ability to manage expectations both internally & externally.
