Are you passionate about marketing to professional audiences?

We are looking for an experienced Marketing professional to build stronger relationships with the 1.5 million IT professionals working in the UK. You will be working in a team whose mission is to scale technical marketing through audience engagement to UK technical professionals so that they trust Microsoft, use Microsoft and talk with Microsoft

You will be delivering clear customer centric communications to the IT Professional audience through a variety of engaging marketing campaigns and programs, focussing on reaching new audiences, driving positive satisfaction and IT Professional readiness. You will be responsible for managing campaigns, internal stakeholders, external suppliers, digital marketing, social media, community and event marketing and drive reach through a seamless blend of online and offline communications, to help IT Professionals understand and evaluate the spectrum of the Microsoft platform.

The Audience Marketing Manager will need to be the voice of the customer inside Microsoft UK helping to elevate the awareness and impact of helping our customers be successful in their roles and to curate the various IT Professional messages, communications and programs to provide a cohesive and engaging set of messages that are relevant for the IT Professional audience, always with focus on measuring the impact of audience marketing on the audience and how it aligns to the subsidiary priorities each fiscal year.

You will need to understand key digital marketing trends and be the trend setters in ‘new’ marketing across the subsidiary.


Key Accountabilities

• Winning IT Professionals over to the Microsoft platform in the cloud, platform, server and desktop through compelling, game changing marketing campaigns and programs
• Engaging in authentic dialogue that creates buzz in the market around the possibilities on the Microsoft platform. 
• Manage key external and internal relationships to drive significant adoption with the 970,000 professional IT Professionals and non-professional IT Professionals in the UK 
• Push Microsoft to deliver innovative marketing that engages audiences based on their needs, wants and desires 
• Provide analytical insights into the behaviours of technical audiences and promote positive change to drive deeper and more positive engagement
• Lead and/or support delivery of key Microsoft, community and industry events 
• Create audience-centric messaging that is clear and cuts through marketing/Microsoft jargon 
Strong ability to demonstrate self-management and prioritise key workloads (due to some events and campaigns requiring evening and weekend work) 
• Evidence of managing corp. stakeholders and focusing on balancing corp. and local market needs
• Clearly demonstrate passion for audience / consumer based marketing both online and off
• Willingness and strength to continually change and try new approaches
• Optimization of budget spend, and ROI analysis

Key Success Criteria

• Delivery of digital marketing and driving marketing excellence that changes the game for brands, products and services that are most relevant to the IT Professional community
• Produce Marketing Events that connect like-minded individuals with thought leaders to generate buzz across the whole of the UK technical community
• Direct experience of working with technical audiences, especially IT Professionals, and communicate 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

1) Essential Experience

• Demonstrable experience in delivering UK or worldwide digital marketing campaigns
• Understanding of the UK IT Professional marketplace including business challenges and competition
• Strong project management skills and ability to coordinate activity across multiple teams 
• Great cross group collaboration, impact and influence and negotiation skills - outside of line management.
• Event management experience in producing or managing events 
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Experience of working in a large or complex matrix organisation preferred (not essential)

2) Functional Skills
• Marketing
Broad knowledge & experience of marketing communications strategy development and application of the marketing mix. 
The candidate must be able to demonstrate the ability to manage multiple projects and be able to prioritise workload

• Marketing Communications
The candidate must have knowledge of marketing communications techniques and processes with a focus on digital marketing
Experience of working with social media and engaging with bloggers and influencers preferred
The candidate should have a passion for learning through execution the latest marketing trends and how they can be appropriately applied in a marketing campaign or program. 

• Audience Marketing Understanding 
The candidate must have an understanding of how to market to IT Professionals through direct knowledge of the target audience and/or more generally, how to market to end users (“consumers”) rather than traditional B2B marketing

4) Qualifications
Essential – Degree level or equivalent
Desirable – Professional Marketing (e.g. Chartered Institute of Marketing) or MBA qualification
